» Inmarsat lost 3.2% amid heightened political and regulatory pressure on its customer, Lightsquared.
» Smith & Nephew dropped 1.4%, following a slight drop in its third-quarter profit.
» FTSE 100 edged down 0.3% to close at 5,527.2. FTSE 250 inched lower 0.2% to settle at 10,387.8.

» US markets closed lower on Friday, as investors remained wary about the European debt crisis, shrugging off a small fall in the US unemployment rate, ahead of the key confidence vote in Greece.
» Bank of America tumbled 6.1%, and emerged as the top loser on the DJIA index. This came after it disclosed its plan of exchanging 400 million shares and $3 billion of senior notes with a total of $6 billion of common shares and debt, igniting fears of dilution among existing shareholders.
» Chesapeake Energy, the top laggard on the S&P 500 index, declined 6.8%, following a $2.44 billion agreement to sell a 25.0% stake in part of its Utica Shale field.
» AIG shed 2.9%, after posting its biggest quarterly loss since 2009.
» AMD slipped 1.1%, following its decision to cut 10% of its workforce worldwide.
» Trident Microsystems, the top loser on the NASDAQ, plunged 59.8%, after its third quarter loss widened.
» DJIA slid 0.5% to 11,983.2. NASDAQ dipped 0.4% to 2,686.2. S&P 500 lost 0.6% to 1,253.2.

» Asian markets are trading lower this morning, led by a drop in exporters amid mounting fears about Eurozone debt crisis. This came after Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou agreed to stand down following an aborted plan to hold a national referendum on bailout package.
» In Japan, exporters, Nissan Motor, Fujifilm Holdings and Casio Computer lost values as the yen appreciated against the dollar.
» Drug maker, Takeda Pharmaceutical paced lower, after the company reported a drop in its first-half net profit.
» In Hong Kong, cement stocks, Anhui Conch Cement and Huaxin Cement traded lower, amid valuation concerns.
» Homebuilders, China Vanke and Gemdale retreated, following report that China won’t roll back property market curbs which would allow companies to raise property prices.
» In South Korea, exporters, Samsung Electronics and Kia Motors traded lower, amid concerns about future demand.
» Nikkei 225 index is trading 0.5% lower, at 8,759.8. Hang Seng index is trading 0.2% lower at 19,831.1, while the Kospi index is trading 0.5% lower, at 1,919.1.
