Should you decide to spread trade on Danish shares such as Danske Bank then, on visiting a spread betting company's website such as Financial Spreads, you might see a spread of 141.1 DKK - 141.9 DKK.
That means you could spread bet on Danske Bank shares to increase above 141.9 DKK or decrease below 141.1 DKK.
If you are spread betting, you trade on every unit the market rises or falls; specifically, for the Danske Bank market a unit is 1 Danish Krone of the share's price movement.
In this case, you could decide to trade £15 for every Krone that the Danske Bank share price goes up or down.
Spread Betting on the Market to Rise
If you bought Danske Bank at 141.9 DKK and the shares increased then the spread might become 148.3 DKK - 149.1 DKK. If that happened, you might decide to close your spread bet for a profit by selling at 148.3 DKK.
Profit/Loss = (settlement price of the market - initial price of the market) x stake per Krone

Financial markets also move down, if the market were to drop down to, for example, 135.2 DKK - 136.0 DKK, you might decide to close your trade to limit your losses. Therefore, you would sell your trade at 135.2 DKK.
Therefore, with the same £15 per Krone stake:
Profit/Loss = (settlement price of the market - initial price of the market) x stake per Krone
Profit/Loss = (135.2 DKK - 141.9 DKK) x £15 per Krone stake
Profit/Loss = -6.7 DKK x £15 per Krone
Profit/Loss = -£100.50 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Danske Bank Market to Go Down?
A benefit of placing a spread trade is that you can short the markets.
When we began this example, the price was 141.1 DKK - 141.9 DKK.
If you were to go short of Danske Bank at 141.1 DKK and the shares fell then you might see the spread move to 134.6 DKK - 135.4 DKK. If that were to happen, you might decide to close your spread trade at 135.4 DKK.
Profit/Loss = (initial price of the market - settlement price of the market) x stake per Krone

Conversely, if the market had increased to, as an example, 146.3 DKK - 147.1 DKK, you might want to close your trade to prevent further losses. Assuming this was the case, you would buy back at 147.1 DKK.
You would close your bet with the same £15 per Krone stake:
Profit/Loss = (initial price of the market - settlement price of the market) x stake per Krone
Profit/Loss = (141.1 DKK - 147.1 DKK) x £15 per Krone stake
Profit/Loss = -6.0 DKK x £15 per Krone
Profit/Loss = -£90.00 loss
