3) Where can I find Live Charts / Candlestick Charts for the Dax Market?
Spread betting companies often offer a variety of free data to their clients (accounts are subject to status, terms and conditions).
The most popular indices data, apart from live prices, tends to be the candlestick charts. The time period of the charts can usually be varied. You can often alter the candlestick charts to show market movements in the order of 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10minutes, 1 hour, 1 day or 1 week periods.

4) How do you Spread Bet on the Dax Market to Go Up?
Dax 30 Spread Betting Example
If you are going to spread trade on an index such as the Dax 30 then, on visiting a spread betting website like Capital Spreads, you might find a spread of 5422.0 - 5423.0.
That means you can spread trade on the Dax 30 to move higher than 5423.0 or to move lower than 5422.0.
When making a spread bet, investors trade on every unit the market increases or decreases. In the case of the Dax market a unit is 1 point of the index's price movement.
For this example, you might choose to trade £2 for every point the Dax 30 rises or falls.
Buying - Spread Betting on the Dax to Go Up
If you were to go long of the Dax 30 at 5423.0 and the index rose then the spread might become 5466.0 - 5467.0. If this were the case, you might choose to close your spread bet for a profit at 5466.0.
Profit or Loss = (final level of the market - initial level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5466.0 - 5423.0) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = 43 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = £86 profit
The markets can of course fall, if the market were to drop down to, as an example, 5383.0 - 5384.0, you might want to close your bet to prevent further losses. If that were to happen, you would sell your spread bet at 5383.0.
With the same £2 per point stake:
Profit or Loss = (final level of the market - initial level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5383.0 - 5423.0) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = -40 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = -£80 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Dax Market to Go Down?
An advantage of spread betting is that investors can go short of the markets.
If you recall, initially the spread was 5422.0 - 5423.0.
If you were to go short of the Dax 30 at 5422.0 and the index went down then the spread could change to 5376.0 - 5377.0. Therefore, you could decide to take your profits by closing your spread trade at 5377.0.
Profit or Loss = (initial level of the market - final level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5422.0 - 5377.0) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = 45 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = £90 profit
Financial markets also move up, if the market were to rise to, as an example, 5463.0 - 5464.0, you may want to close your trade to restrict your losses. In that case, you would buy at 5464.0.
Therefore, with the same £2 per point stake:
Profit or Loss = (initial level of the market - final level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5422.0 - 5464.0) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = -42 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = -£84 loss
