Deutsche Bank Financial Spread Trading Example
Should you decide to spread bet on German shares such as Deutsche Bank then, looking at a spread betting site like Capital Spreads, at the moment you would find a spread of €45.67 - €45.83.
Therefore, you can spread trade on Deutsche Bank shares to go higher than €45.83 or to go lower than €45.67.
If you are spread betting, you trade on every unit the market increases or decreases; for the Deutsche Bank market a unit is €0.01 of the share's price movement.
Accordingly, you could choose to spread bet £2 for every cent that the Deutsche Bank share price goes up or down.
Buying - Spread Betting on the Market to Increase
If you were to go long of Deutsche Bank at €45.83 and the shares went up then the market might be re-priced at €46.45 - €46.61. In that case, you might decide to close your bet for a profit by selling at €46.45.
Profit/Loss = (final price of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€46.45 - €45.83) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = €0.62 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = £124 profit
The markets can of course fall, if the market had decreased to €45.26 - €45.42, you may want to close your trade to restrict your losses. If this were the case, you would sell back at €45.26.
With the same £2 per cent stake:
Profit/Loss = (final price of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€45.26 - €45.83) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = -€0.57 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = -£114 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Deutsche Bank Market to Go Down?
One of the many advantages of using a spread bet is that investors can short the markets.
When we began this example, the spread betting price was €45.67 - €45.83.
If you were to sell Deutsche Bank at €45.67 and the shares went down then the spread might change to €44.92 - €45.08. Therefore, you could close your spread bet for a profit by buying at €45.08.
Profit/Loss = (opening value of the market - final price of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€45.67 - €45.08) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = €0.59 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = £118 profit
The markets can of course rise, if the market had moved up to €46.05 - €46.21, you could choose to close your bet to prevent further losses. If so, you would buy at €46.21.
You would do this with the same £2 per cent stake:
Profit/Loss = (opening value of the market - final price of the market) x stake per cent
Profit/Loss = (€45.67 - €46.21) x £2 per cent stake
Profit/Loss = -€0.54 x £2 per cent
Profit/Loss = -£108 loss
