4) How do you Spread Bet on the DNO Market to Go Up?
DNO Financial Spread Trading Example
If you decide to spread trade on Norwegian shares such as DNO then, on visiting a spread trading website such as IG Index, at the moment you would find a spread trading price of 8.6 NOK - 9.3 NOK.
This means you can spread bet on DNO shares to move above 9.3 NOK or below 8.6 NOK.
When making a spread bet, you bet on every unit the market goes up or down. With the DNO market a unit is 1 Norwegian Krone of the share's price movement.
In this case, you could decide to spread bet £25 for every Krone that the DNO share price goes up or down.
Buying - Spread Betting on the Market to Increase
If you were to buy DNO at 9.3 NOK and the shares went up then the spread could change to 12.1 NOK - 12.8 NOK. Therefore, you might decide to take your profits by closing your spread bet at 12.1 NOK.
Profits (or Losses) = (settlement value of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = (12.1 NOK - 9.3 NOK) x £25 per Krone stake
Profits (or Losses) = 2.8 NOK x £25 per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = £70.00 profit
Financial markets also move down, if the market decreased to, as an example, 6.3 NOK - 7.0 NOK, you may decide to close your bet to limit your losses. Assuming this was the case, you would sell your spread bet at 6.3 NOK.
Therefore, with the same £25 per Krone stake:
Profits (or Losses) = (settlement value of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = (6.3 NOK - 9.3 NOK) x £25 per Krone stake
Profits (or Losses) = -3.0 NOK x £25 per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = -£75.00 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the DNO Market to Go Down?
One major advantage of placing a spread trade is that you can sell the markets.
When we began this example, the price was 8.6 NOK - 9.3 NOK.
If you were to go short of DNO at 8.6 NOK and the shares decreased then the spread could move to 4.8 NOK - 5.5 NOK. If that were to happen, you might decide to close your bet for a profit at 5.5 NOK.
Profits (or Losses) = (opening value of the market - settlement value of the market) x stake per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = (8.6 NOK - 5.5 NOK) x £25 per Krone stake
Profits (or Losses) = 3.1 NOK x £25 per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = £77.50 profit
Financial markets also move up, if the market were to rise up to 11.3 NOK - 12.0 NOK, you could choose to close your spread bet to prevent further losses. If so, you would buy your spread bet at 12.0 NOK.
With the same £25 per Krone stake:
Profits (or Losses) = (opening value of the market - settlement value of the market) x stake per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = (8.6 NOK - 12.0 NOK) x £25 per Krone stake
Profits (or Losses) = -3.4 NOK x £25 per Krone
Profits (or Losses) = -£85.00 loss
