Dollar/Polish Zloty Financial Spread Betting Example
Should you decide to spread trade on a foreign exchange pair such as the Dollar/Polish Zloty then, on visiting a spread betting site like Financial Spreads, you might find a spread trading price of 2.8215 zl - 2.8265 zl.
That means you could spread trade on the Dollar/Polish Zloty to go above 2.8265 zl or below 2.8215 zl.
With spread betting, you trade on every unit the market rises or falls. Specifically, for the Dollar/Polish Zloty market a unit is 0.0001 zl of the forex pair's price movement.
With this example, you could decide to trade £3 for every 0.0001 zl the Dollar/Polish Zloty moves up or down.
Betting on the Market to Rise
If you were to buy the Dollar/Polish Zloty at 2.8265 zl and the forex pair went up then the spread could change to 2.8307 zl - 2.8357 zl. Therefore, you could close your bet for a profit, if so you would sell at 2.8307 zl.
Profits (or Losses) = (closing price of the market - initial price of the market) x stake per 0.0001 zl
Profits (or Losses) = (2.8307 zl - 2.8265 zl) x £3 per 0.0001 zl stake

The markets can of course fall, if the market dropped to, for example, 2.8228 zl - 2.8278 zl, you might decide to close your bet to limit your losses. Assuming this was the case, you would sell your spread bet at 2.8228 zl.
You would close your bet with the same £3 per 0.0001 zl stake:
Profits (or Losses) = (closing price of the market - initial price of the market) x stake per 0.0001 zl
Profits (or Losses) = (2.8228 zl - 2.8265 zl) x £3 per 0.0001 zl stake
Profits (or Losses) = -0.0037 zl x £3 per 0.0001 zl
Profits (or Losses) = -£111 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Dollar - Polish Zloty Market to Go Down?
One of the many benefits of using a spread bet is that you can sell the markets.
When we began this example, the spread betting price was 2.8215 zl - 2.8265 zl.
If you were to sell the Dollar/Polish Zloty at 2.8215 zl and the forex pair fell then the spread could become 2.8127 zl - 2.8177 zl. If that happened, you might choose to close your trade for a profit by buying at 2.8177 zl.
Profits (or Losses) = (initial price of the market - closing price of the market) x stake per 0.0001 zl
Profits (or Losses) = (2.8215 zl - 2.8177 zl) x £3 per 0.0001 zl stake
Profits (or Losses) = 0.0038 zl x £3 per 0.0001 zl

Conversely, if the market increased to, as an example, 2.8198 zl - 2.8248 zl, you might want to close your trade to limit your losses. If so, you would buy at 2.8248 zl.
You would do this with the same £3 per 0.0001 zl stake:
Profits (or Losses) = (initial price of the market - closing price of the market) x stake per 0.0001 zl
Profits (or Losses) = (2.8215 zl - 2.8248 zl) x £3 per 0.0001 zl stake
