3) Where can I find Live Charts / Candlestick Charts for Indices Markets?
Spread betting companies often offer a variety of free data to their clients (accounts are subject to status, terms and conditions).
The most popular data, apart from live prices, tends to be the candlestick charts. The time period of the charts can usually be varied. You can often alter the candlestick charts to show market movements in the order of 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10minutes, 1 hour, 1 day or 1 week periods.
With a number of the charts you can also update the settings to help your technical analysis. For example you can add Bollinger Bands and 20, 50 and 100 point Moving Averages.

4) How do you Spread Bet on Indices Markets to Go Up?
FTSE 100 Financial Spread Betting Example
Should you decide to spread bet on an index such as the FTSE 100 then, on visiting the Financial Spreads website, you may find a spread of 5412.0 - 5413.0.
As a result, you could spread bet on the FTSE 100 Index to increase higher than 5413.0 or decrease lower than 5412.0.
When you spread bet, you bet on every unit the market increases or decreases; with the FTSE 100 market a unit is 1 point of the index's price movement.
For instance, you could choose to trade £2 for every point that the the FTSE 100 Index rises or falls.
Buying - Spread Betting on the Market to Increase
If you were to go long of the FTSE at 5413.0 and the index increased then the market might be re-priced at 5465.8 - 5466.8. If that happened, you might choose to close your bet for a profit at 5465.8.
Profit or Loss = (final price of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5465.8 - 5413.0) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = 52.8 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = £105.60 profit
The markets can of course fall, if the market dropped to, for example, 5364.3 - 5365.3, you might want to close your bet to restrict your losses. Therefore, you would sell the market at 5364.3.
Therefore, with the same £2 per point stake:
Profit or Loss = (final price of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5364.3 - 5413.0) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = -48.7 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = -£97.40 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Indices Market to Go Down?
One of the advantages of spread trading is that you can short the markets.
To start with, the spread was 5412.0 - 5413.0.
If you were to go short of the FTSE 100 at 5412.0 and the index went down then the spread might change to 5366.1 - 5367.1. If that were to happen, you might decide to close your spread bet for a profit by buying at 5367.1.
Profit or Loss = (opening value of the market - final price of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5412.0 - 5367.1) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = 44.9 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = £89.80 profit
Financial markets also move up, if the market had moved up to, as an example, 5452.4 - 5453.4, you could choose to close your trade to prevent further losses. If this were the case, you would buy at 5453.4.
You would close your bet with the same £2 per point stake:
Profit or Loss = (opening value of the market - final price of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (5412.0 - 5453.4) x £2 per point stake
Profit or Loss = -41.4 points x £2 per point
Profit or Loss = -£82.80 loss

7) Dow Jones Financial Spread Betting Example
Should you decide to spread trade on an index like the Dow Jones then, looking at the Capital Spreads website, at the time of writing you would find the Wall Street market with spread of 10693 - 10695. Note that in spread betting the Dow Jones is generally referred to as 'Wall Street'.
This means you could spread trade on the Dow Jones to increase higher than 10695 or to decrease lower than 10693.
When online spread betting, you bet on every unit the market rises or falls. With the Dow Jones market a unit is 1 point of the index's price movement.
For this instance, you could choose to spread bet £2 for every point that the the DJIA price goes up or down.
Buying - Spread Betting on the Market to Rise
If you bought the Wall St Index at 10695 and the index rose then the spread might change to 10754 - 10756. If this were the case, you could decide to take your profits by closing your spread bet at 10754.
Profit/Loss = (settlement price of the market - opening price of the market) x stake per point
Profit/Loss = (10754 - 10695) x £2 per point stake
Profit/Loss = 59 points x £2 per point
Profit/Loss = £118 profit
Of course, if the Wall Street market had moved down to, as an example, 10642 - 10644, you might decide to close your trade to prevent further losses. If that happened, you would sell at 10642.
You would do this with the same £2 per point stake:
Profit/Loss = (settlement price of the market - opening price of the market) x stake per point
Profit/Loss = (10642 - 10695) x £2 per point stake
Profit/Loss = -53 points x £2 per point
Profit/Loss = -£106 loss
Spread Betting on the Dow to Fall
A useful benefit of placing a spread trade is that you can short the markets.
If you recall, initially the spread was 10693 - 10695.
If you were to sell the Dow Jones at 10693 and the index went down then the market might be re-priced at 10629 - 10631. In that case, you might decide to take your profits by closing your spread bet at 10631.
Profit/Loss = (opening price of the market - settlement price of the market) x stake per point
Profit/Loss = (10693 - 10631) x £2 per point stake
Profit/Loss = 62 points x £2 per point
Profit/Loss = £124 profit
Financial markets also move up, if the market were to rise up to, as an example, 10747 - 10749, you could choose to close your trade to limit your losses. If so, you would buy your spread bet at 10749.
So, with the same £2 per point stake:
Profit/Loss = (opening price of the market - settlement price of the market) x stake per point
Profit/Loss = (10693 - 10749) x £2 per point stake
Profit/Loss = -56 points x £2 per point
Profit/Loss = -£112 loss
