Should you decide to spread trade on Swedish shares like Nokia then, on visiting a spread betting website such as IG Index, you may see a spread trading price of 73.4 SEK - 74.1 SEK.
Therefore, you can spread trade on Nokia shares to move higher than 74.1 SEK or to move lower than 73.4 SEK.
When spread betting, you bet on every unit the market rises or falls; in the case of the Nokia market a unit is 1 Swedish Krona of the share's price movement.
For this instance, you could choose to bet £15 for every Krona that the Nokia share price rises or falls.
Spread Betting on the Market to Rise
If you were to go long of Nokia at 74.1 SEK and the shares rose then the spread might become 79.3 SEK - 80.0 SEK. If so, you could close your trade at 79.3 SEK.
P&L = (final price of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per Krona
P&L = (79.3 SEK - 74.1 SEK) x £15 per Krona stake
P&L = 5.2 SEK x £15 per Krona
P&L = £78.00 profit
Financial markets also move down, if the market had moved down to, for example, 69.3 SEK - 70.0 SEK, you may decide to close your spread bet to restrict your losses. If this were the case, you would sell your trade at 69.3 SEK.
With the same £15 per Krona stake:
P&L = (final price of the market - opening value of the market) x stake per Krona
P&L = (69.3 SEK - 74.1 SEK) x £15 per Krona stake
P&L = -4.8 SEK x £15 per Krona
P&L = -£72.00 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Nokia Market to Go Down?
One major advantage of placing a spread trade is that you can go short of the markets.
If you recall, initially the price was 73.4 SEK - 74.1 SEK.
If you were to sell Nokia at 73.4 SEK and the shares fell then you might see the spread move to 67.8 SEK - 68.5 SEK. If that happened, you could close your spread bet for a profit, if so you would buy at 68.5 SEK.
