4) How do you Spread Bet on the Sweden 30 Market to Go Up?
Sweden 30 Financial Spread Betting Example
Should you decide to spread bet on an index like the Sweden 30 then, looking at a spread betting site like Financial Spreads, you would currently see a spread betting price of 964.0 - 966.0.
This means you could bet on the Sweden 30 to move higher than 966.0 or to move lower than 964.0.
With spread betting, you trade on every unit the market rises or falls; specifically, for the Sweden 30 market a unit is 1 point of the index's price movement.
Accordingly, you could decide to spread bet £5 for every point the Sweden 30 rises or falls.
Spread Betting on the Market to Increase
If you were to go long of the Sweden 30 at 966.0 and the index rose then the spread could change to 990.0 - 992.0. If so, you might decide to close your bet for a profit at 990.0.
Profit or Loss = (final level of the market - initial level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (990.0 - 966.0) x £5 per point stake
Profit or Loss = 24.0 points x £5 per point
Profit or Loss = £120 profit
Conversely, if the market had moved down to, for example, 945.0 - 947.0, you may decide to close your bet to prevent further losses. Assuming this was the case, you would sell back at 945.0.
So, with the same £5 per point stake:
Profit or Loss = (final level of the market - initial level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (945.0 - 966.0) x £5 per point stake
Profit or Loss = -21.0 points x £5 per point
Profit or Loss = -£105 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Sweden 30 Market to Go Down?
A key benefit of spread trading is that you can short the markets.
If you recall, initially the market was priced at 964.0 - 966.0.
If you were to sell the Sweden 30 at 964.0 and the index went down then the spread might change to 942.0 - 944.0. If that happened, you might decide to close your spread bet for a profit by buying at 944.0.
Profit or Loss = (initial level of the market - final level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (964.0 - 944.0) x £5 per point stake
Profit or Loss = 20.0 points x £5 per point
Profit or Loss = £100 profit
Financial markets also move up, if the market had moved up to, for example, 980.0 - 982.0, you may want to close your trade to restrict your losses. In that case, you would buy your spread bet at 982.0.
You would do this with the same £5 per point stake:
Profit or Loss = (initial level of the market - final level of the market) x stake per point
Profit or Loss = (964.0 - 982.0) x £5 per point stake
Profit or Loss = -18.0 points x £5 per point
Profit or Loss = -£90 loss
