4) How do you Spread Bet on the Torm Market to Go Up?

Should you decide to spread bet on Danish shares like Torm then, on visiting a spread betting website like Capital Spreads, at the time of writing you would see a spread of 38.9 DKK - 39.6 DKK.
As a result, you could bet on Torm shares to move above 39.6 DKK or below 38.9 DKK.
When spread betting, investors bet on every unit the market increases or decreases; specifically, for the Torm market a unit is 1 Danish Krone of the share's price movement.
For this instance, you could decide to trade £25 for every Krone that the Torm share price rises or falls.
Spread Betting on the Market to Increase
If you were to go long of Torm at 39.6 DKK and the shares increased then the spread could change to 42.2 DKK - 42.9 DKK. In that case, you might decide to take your profits by closing your spread bet at 42.2 DKK.

The markets can of course fall, if the market were to drop down to, as an example, 37.3 DKK - 38.0 DKK, you might want to close your bet to limit your losses. Assuming this was the case, you would sell the market at 37.3 DKK.
So, with the same £25 per Krone stake:
P&L = (settlement price of the market - opening price of the market) x stake per Krone
P&L = (37.3 DKK - 39.6 DKK) x £25 per Krone stake
P&L = -2.3 DKK x £25 per Krone
P&L = -£57.50 loss
5) How do you Spread Bet on the Torm Market to Go Down?
A key benefit of placing a spread trade is that you can short the markets.
When we started this example, the market was priced at 38.9 DKK - 39.6 DKK.
If you were to sell Torm at 38.9 DKK and the shares went down then the spread might change to 35.4 DKK - 36.1 DKK. If so, you might choose to close your trade for a profit by buying at 36.1 DKK.
P&L = (opening price of the market - settlement price of the market) x stake per Krone
P&L = (38.9 DKK - 36.1 DKK) x £25 per Krone stake

Nevertheless, if the market had moved up to, as an example, 40.7 DKK - 41.4 DKK, you might want to close your bet to prevent further losses. If that happened, you would buy back at 41.4 DKK.
With the same £25 per Krone stake:
P&L = (opening price of the market - settlement price of the market) x stake per Krone
P&L = (38.9 DKK - 41.4 DKK) x £25 per Krone stake
P&L = -2.5 DKK x £25 per Krone
P&L = -£62.50 loss
