» Online travel company, Priceline.com, the top gainer on the S&P 500 index, surged 8.6%, after its third-quarter earnings more than doubled, led by a surge in bookings.
» Real estate developer, Toll Brothers gained 7.4%, after posting robust fourth-quarter results.
» DryShips advanced 9.9%, after its third-quarter earnings surpassed market estimates.
» Video game maker, Activision Blizzard rose 1.4%, following an upbeat report on its new game releases.
» Among financial stocks, Wells Fargo climbed 4.4%, after settling a long legal row.
» Bank of America, JPMorgan and Citigroup added between 1.2% and 2.9%, amid optimism over a change in leadership in Italy.
» DJIA rose 0.8% to close at 12,170.2. NASDAQ gained 1.2% to settle at 2,727.5. S&P 500 surged 1.2% to end at 1,275.9.

» Asian markets are trading higher this morning, after Chinese inflation eased, and after global markets ended higher, following news that Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi had agreed to resign.
» In Japan, exporters, Sony, Sharp and Honda Motor traded higher, recovering from their previous session losses.
» Financial stock, Nomura Holdings, Daiwa Securities and Aozora Bank gained, tracking gains in their US and European peers. Nomura Holdings also gained value, after it declined any involvement in Olympus.
» In Hong Kong, homebuilders, Agile Property Holdings, China Overseas Land & Investment and Sino Land paced gains, on hopes of possible monetary easing. Banking stocks, Bank of China, China Merchants Bank and Bank of Communications, also advanced.
» In South Korea, oil refiners, S-oil and SK innovation paced gains, in line with a rise in crude oil prices.
» Nikkei 225 index is trading 0.7% higher, at 8,715.0. Hang Seng index is trading 1.6% higher at 19,990.3, while the Kospi index is trading 0.1% higher, at 1,904.4.
