» Unilever tumbled 3.1%, after Citigroup downgraded its ratings on the stock to “Underperform” from “Neutral”.
» Power supplier, Aggreko fell 3.3%, as Credit Suisse slashed its rating on the stock to “Neutral” from “Outperform”.
» Utilities, Centrica and SSE retreated 1.3% and 2.8%, respectively, amid worries that they might need to follow EDF Energy in cutting tariffs.
» Among oil producers, BP, BG Group and Royal Dutch Shell declined between 0.9% and 3.1%, in line with a drop in crude oil prices.
» Moneysupermarket.com gained 6.8%, after it forecasted a 20% YoY growth in revenue for 2011.
» FTSE 100 slid 0.5% to close at 5,670.8, while FTSE 250 edged up 0.2% to end at 10,372.6.

» US markets closed mixed yesterday, after the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book showed that the US economy was improving, offsetting concerns about the European debt crisis.
» Coca-Cola dropped 1.9%, after UBS downgraded its rating on the stock to “Neutral” from “Buy”.
» Chevron dropped 1.2%, tracking lower crude oil prices. Urban Outfitters tumbled 19.0% as the company’s chief executive officer resigned.
» Clean energy providers, First Solar and Yingli Green Energy jumped 7.8% and 20.4%, respectively, after China mulled to double its solar electricity generation capacity in 2012.
» Homebuilders, Lennar, D.R. Horton, PulteGroup and KB Home surged between 4.8% and 12.0%, as Lennar’s order book jumped by 20%.
» Citigroup climbed 4.2%, after an analyst stated that the stock could “easily” triple in five years.
» DJIA edged down 0.1% to close at 12,449.5. NASDAQ rose 0.3% to end at 2,710.8. S&P 500 rose marginally to settle at 1,292.5.

» Asian markets are trading mostly lower this morning, led by losses in exporters, amid concerns that the global economic growth would falter, after Japan's current-account surplus shrank from the ninth straight month in November and after Germany’s economy contracted in the final quarter of 2011.
» In Japan, exporters, Canon and Mazda Motor paced declines, amid worries over demand prospects.
» Broking firms, Nomura, Tokai Tokyo Financial Holdings and Okasan Securities Group traded lower after Nomura Holdings reported a decline in individual investors’ trading volume.
» In Hong Kong, energy stocks, Cnooc and Petrochina paced lower, tracking overnight decline in crude oil prices.
» Tong Yang Life Insurance gained value following report that preliminary takeover bids for the company would begin before the end of the week.
» Nikkei 225 index is trading 0.9% lower, at 8,369.0. Hang Seng index is trading 0.1% lower at 19,128.9, while the Kospi index is trading 0.2% higher at 1,849.8.
